A plant needs light of certain wavelengths, which are not or not present or strong enough in normal lamps. The Highlife Co. recommends the use of type SON T lamps. They are suitable for both the growth stage, as well as the flowering stage. Ballast's are necessary for these lamps. Ballast's of 600 watts have the most favourable output of delivered light per watt. Depending on the variety we recommend to use between 400 and 800 watts per m2. A dehumidifier serves both purposes, raising temperature and lowering humidity. As the temperature drops, the relative humidity increases. Hot air can hold more water than cold air. The same amount of water dissolved in cold air creates a higher humidity than when dissolved in hot air. An automatic humidistat operating a blower or dehumidifier can be left on during the dark hours for the big bud feminized. Some varieties are easier to root than others. For instance Big Bud, is notoriously difficult to root. Skunk and Northern lights are much easier to clone. Every gardener faces some problems with the garden at one time or another. Environmental problems, insects and diseases can create havoc among the plants and often leave the grower stumped. The best way gardeners have prevented problems has been to carefully examine the garden at least once a week. First a gardener looks at the entire space. Do the plants look healthy and vigorous? Is their color normal and bright? Then the grower examines a few plants closeup. Do they look healthy? Have they grown since the last examination? Do the leaves or any other plant parts show signs of nutrient problems? Taking a photographer’s x 4 or x 8 loupe, available at camera stores, the cultivator looks at the leaves of several plants.
